Aziz VI

Aziz VI, born Murre Bah on March 28th, 1991, in the West Coast Region of The Gambia.
He was a promising football player until fate took an unexpected turn. At 17, a tragic accident left him visually impaired after hospitalisation, shattering his dreams on the football field. Despite facing this life-altering challenge, Aziz VI found solace and inspiration in the world of sound. As he grappled with his new reality, he turned to the radio and music, discovering a passion that would lead him on an extraordinary journey.
Channelling his emotions into poetic verses, he began to craft songs that tackled a wide range of societal issues. Through his lyrics, he became a resounding voice for the differently abled, reminding the world that “disability is not an inability.” Alongside his empowering messages, Aziz VI’s songwriting ventured into themes of romance and the human experience. In a fortunate twist of fate, Aziz VI’s path led him to Germany, where he crossed paths with Zeeman, a Gambian producer affiliated with Kairaba Productions. Zeeman introduced Aziz VI to the seasoned talents of Celested Stars, a distinguished Studio Team known for their illustrious work within the reggae community. With a resounding legacy, they have lent their musical prowess to prestigious labels such as Oneness-Records, contributing to the creations of reggae luminaries, including Luciano, Lutan Fyah, and Sara Lugo.
Captivated by Aziz VI’s distinctively soulful vocals and inspired by his resilient spirit, Celested Stars embarked on a musical journey of collaboration. This collective effort
birthed a remarkable 4-track EP that encapsulates the essence of Aziz VI’s soulful artistry. Each track is a testament to his authenticity, as he fearlessly embraces his true self without pretence.
The EP’s title track, “Keep the Faith,” set for release in fall 2023, stands as a beacon of hope and strength. A modern roots composition, its powerful vocals are underscored by an immersive rock-infused beat and a bassline reminiscent of dubstep. The EP further unfolds with “Without Your Love,” a timeless rub-a-dub Lovers-Reggae composition that beckons
repeated listens. “Doku Watu Sita,” sung in the evocative Mandinka language, signifies a collaboration with Sambou Susso from Gambia and embodies the call for diligence and perseverance.
Lastly, the EP culminates with “Angel,” a highlife Reggae opus embellished by the playful melodies of a baritone saxophone played by the talented Leo Feng. This collective effort birthed a remarkable 4-track EP that encapsulates the essence of Aziz VI’s soulful artistry.
